From 17 October this year we will be changing our mobile network provider to Telecom Wholesale. You will receive an information pack detailing the change and what it means for your business in the coming weeks.
Below are answers to frequently asked questions about the move.
What does the Telecom 3G mobile network offer CallPlus customers?
The Telecom 3G network is designed for smartphones and delivers fast, nationwide, mobile internet coverage to 97% of the places Kiwi's live and work. Worldwide trends point to the majority of mobile users being on a smartphone by 2013. The Android Smartphone market share is set to grow to 49% in 2012.*
The move to a new network provider means CallPlus can provide our customers with even better mobile services and competitive pricing.

What are the key benefits of this network?
- Performance. In June and July 2011, an independent company tested mobile networks in Wellington and Auckland. To view the results that the Telecom 3G network delivered click here for Wellington, and here for Auckland.
- Nationwide 3G coverage. You can check the coverage in your area here.
Is the Telecom 3G mobile network the same as the Telecom XT network?
Yes, they are the same network. The XT network is the retail brand. Frequency of this network is 850 Mhz (3G) nationwide and 2100 Mhz in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin CBD's.
What does this change in mobile network provider mean for my business?
You will receive:
- A new SIM card
- A new phone if your current device is not compatible with the Telecom 3G network
- New voicemail (but you will still be able to access it by calling 909 from your mobile)
- A new mobile broadband device (if you already are a mobile broadband user and have a stick)

There will be no change to:
- Your mobile number
- The pricing of your plan
- The point of contact for support and billing
- How you track and monitor costs in Visibill
- Access to My Account and the self service portals
We will be working closely with Telecom Wholesale and you to make the transition as seamless as possible. We will be in contact with all of our mobile customers directly, distributing comprehensive information packs. If I receive a new phone, what should I do with my old handset?
Starship's Mobile Phone Recycling Appeal is a fantastic way to safely dispose of redundant mobile phones - and also help take care of our kids. We will include a courier bag addressed to the Starship Appeal with your new handset.
